People have always depended on Pelican to provide them with a dependable and durable flashlight. Continuous product development and improvements are being done to better serve their consumers. With the Pelican M6 2390 LED flashlight, they have improved on the M6 2330 while maintaining all of its good features.
At almost the same size and weight as the M6 2330, the Pelican M6 2390 LED flashlight is also made from machined aircraft grade aluminum alloy with a Type III anodized finish which not only makes it corrosion resistant but also provides for protection against extreme conditions. The head as well as the tail cap have an octagonal shape providing for the anti-roll feature of this LED flashlight. The body has a knurled surface to provide for a good secure grip. Another interesting design feature of the M6 2390 LED is the O-rings that seals and protect the light from water.
The M6 2390 generate an ultra bright light beam using a 3W LED with a 10,000 hour life. The light produced is focused towards the center and has a wide spill beam. This is powered by two CR123 Lithium batteries with 5 hours burn time. Changing batteries is very simple. You just unscrew the tail cap to get the old cells out, replace with new ones and reattached the tail cap.

The Pelican M6 2390 LED flashlight is an enhancement of the earlier released M6 2330 LED. The difference mainly is the use of a Luxeon III LED rather than a Luxeon I for its source of light. Consistency in the light output has been the main problem with the M6 2330 LED and this time, they not only offer a greater light output but also a more consistent level of output throughout the 4 to 5 hours of the usable life of the batteries as they claim. Consumers who have tried the M6 2390 attest that while it indeed produces a brighter and more intense light at 61 lumens over the 40 lumens of M6 2330, the quality of light output still weakens after one hour and 30 minutes and continuous to drop and after 2 hours and 20 minutes, the light output is by now down to 25%. Basically it has not resolve the issue of regulating its light output to maintain a constant level of output from the time it was switched on.
The flashlight’s switch has 3 different modes: on/off mode, “momentary” operation and the “lockout” safety mode. You can click the switch to turn the light on and off. You can also use your thumb to apply a gentle pressure on the button to temporarily switch on the light and releasing it would turn in off. By rotating the switch backwards at about 2 turns would activate the “lockout” safety mode and will help avoid accidental activation of the light especially when being packed.
The Pelican M6 3W 2390 LED flashlight comes with a free nylon sheath making it more convenient to store it. It has a snap closure and a plastic sleeve inside as additional protection for the flashlight. Also, there is an extra pouch for your backup batteries.
